Ingenuity in Indian Army
' जंगल में मंगल '. Enjoying the Lotus pond made in front or my residential tent in Banar , Jodhpur, Rajasthan. ( OP Parakram, 2002).
It is a small example of ingenuity in the Army. This small pond was made by L/Nk Giri, my Sahayak. A small pit was dug in front of my tent, water filled up after putting a piece of tarpaulin to prevent leakage. Lotus plant was brought from a lotus pond a few kilometers away.
Being OC of Southern Command Vehicle Company that I raised during OP Parakram Mobilisation, I decided to stay along with my troops , although other officers of the area were staying in Officers' Mess together.
This pond helped me to relax in the evenings with a glass of Roohafza/ Nimbu paani.( I don't drink otherwise).
I cherish memories of a wonderful life I had in the Army. I miss the boys too !
